Tribute to Sir Edmund Hillary: Is he the greatest adventurer of our time? Sir Hillary has died of natural causes in New Zealand.
In tribute to his legacy, I would get this question: could it be justified as the greatest adventurer of our time?
Please be respectful in your comments, especially as it is about someone who has recently died.
PLEASE TICK STAR IS interesting question
Thank you for all the answers!
As a budding adventurer / climber, I looked up to him in many ways, it is sad news to hear of his death.
Although a few years back, I found a book called "High Adventure" written by Hillary after climbing Everest. (Complete with pictures of the first summit ever made)
I think it is an inspiration and a legend for many people in the world.
RIP
I can accept that. - The ancient Polynesians who sailed much of the Pacific by boat canoe can be there too.
May he rest in peace, my grandfather knew his real father and mother and always well thought Edmund was a real boy Nice Not surprisingly, he became the man he was. Not only brave, but had a real thing a celebrity would be a lot of respect for others. Always said, if the world had a few million more families to d'Hillary, the world would be a great place.
Well, let's just say this: It was one of the last men more say he was the first to do something. Nobody had ever exceeded Everest person. Rest in Peace Sir Edmund.
All due respects to Mr. Hillary, but no, I do not think this particular category de''Adventurer''
may un''meilleur''.. many others of the day Hillary made spectacular adventures that were dangerous, exciting and the first.
Everest is the highest mountain, it was the first, a feat that was impossible.
Neil Armstrong was the first on the moon, nobody can claim that it is ... and, like Hillary, Armstrong has shown that nothing is impossible if you want too.
Whoever is first to go where no man as gone before. Is this a great adventurer. To fit into 8000 mtr zone is and not knowing what was in front of them or if it was possible, it is true adventurer. bless.
condolences
