Where was the Center for Disease Control? How do these people GET U.S.? EMPORIA - When hundreds of Somali refugees began showing work at the plant for packaging meat, and nurses Lori Torres Renee Hively were among the first to discover the exotic newcomers.
"We have notified one day in advance that 70 Somalis had been transferred from a plant (Tyson Foods) in Nebraska," Hively recalled. "That 70 soon turned into 400, overnight ."... Torres is the case manager for about 160 Somalis in Emporia who have been diagnosed with latent tuberculosis ....
Section 212 (a) (1) of the Immigration and Nationality Act states that aliens with specific conditions related to health are not eligible to receive visas and ineligible for admission to the United States.
Let Tyson Foods out of business!
No extraordinary measures necessary.
No time to your day
Just do not buy anything made by Tyson Foods
Tyson is not just chicken. They sell beef and pork products, including bacon http://cjonline.com/stories/112507/kan_2 ...
It's very interesting. Immigrants can not enter the U.S. if they are sick. Tuberculosis is highly contagious. But what happens to immigration? It's a lot of people come too.
I see a banned Tyson. How indifferent. They all their products and that is what we get? I also banned Levi's when I discovered they went to Mexico for cheap labor.
So Tyson has brought us:
1. the Clintoons;
2. Some holiday Jihad for workers (the Arabs probably replace illegal Mexicans)
3. Illegal Mexicans, and
4. TB
The chicken is not very good, to boot.
The CDC has been in Atlanta and they got in the refugee status.
Your story is almost a year, the threat is over. Tyson food products are now safe, and have been very well. Unless you have the habit of eating food is not a threat for tuberculosis uncooked meat eaters. Raw fruits and vegetables are another story. I do not get the point that we are not about to close our country to any other nation in the world.
A bit of a rant, but that is probably necessary.
I must say, at least Tyson Foods requires their workers to have health insurance to work for them.
I'd like to think that preventing them from our emergency rooms where many would probably not pay their bills properly. As some of our southern neighbors.
In other words, our government is not doing its job properly. Add to that too many people are both legal and illegal are allowed to come on our soil too fast and you have the makings of what is surely a disaster and will only get worse unless things are changed soon .
We do not know here if these people entered the United States as refugees or otherwise and then apply for asylum. Refugees and immigrants are tested for tuberculosis and other diseases. People who come on nonimmigrant visas are not in and of course illegal immigrants are not tested at all. Many Somalis come illegally, but many do not come as refugees, it is not possible to know whether these people had never been tested or not without checking immigration records of all. Probably some were, but not all.
Strictly speaking, a person must have an active infectious tuberculosis in order not to be eligible to come as a refugee or immigrant. Inactive TB is not a disqualification and what you say here, there does not appear anyone has active tuberculosis. If they do, they are prevented from entering the United States as an immigrant or a refugee until they have gone through treatment and are more active tuberculosis. that can take a year or more, unless they have a drug-resistant strains, in which case they can never enter, depending on how the treatment goe.
