Paula Zahn

Paula ZahnThe essence of Hip Hop

About a year I started working on a presentation to highlight the fundamental differences between Hip Hop and Rap. Somewhere in the fog of my project, I turned on the television to know, Hip Hop and Rap have been murdered declared legally insane. And while George Bush was responsible for the war in Iraq and a weak economy, everything else is wrong with America was linked to Hip Hop. Drugs, teen pregnancy, violence, school dropout rates, victimization of women (including rape and abuse), racism exists because American COP murder, pornography, I leave side global warming. Well perhaps not global warming, but there was a witch hunt taking place serious. Later, I saw David Banner and Master P to a committee in Washington, DC to defend their music.

It was all surreal and I watched the corporate media in America do what they do best, sensationalist story for notes (eg, after the shootings at Virginia Tech University, a media went up placed a picture of 50 Cent next to the shooter image, arguing that his music was responsible for influencing the killer to commit violence).

Oprah "Town Meeting on Hip Hop 'BET Hip Hop vs. America," Paula Zahn "Hip Hop: Art or Poison allowed out of touch the black leaders, white right wing, and angry groups of women all shouting "Hip Hop" ... "Hip Hop negatively influence young people to ..."," Hip Hop promotes that ...."," Hip Hop is the source of all evil corporations. "Compounding things people on these boards who have been invited to speak on behalf of hip-hop were mostly rappers and members of the rap industry to preserve their Moneymaker. The legitimate members of the hip-hop community on these 3 panels could count on one hand, county (city Oprah Meeting on Hip Hop), Chuck D and Nelson George (Hip Hop America cons), and others. Hip Hop did not give a fair chance to express to America than was actually pumped over the airwaves and on the big machine Viacom (MTV, BET, and VH1) was not Hip Hop but a commercial version called Hip Hop Rap. And as people continued to confuse the rap for hip hop, things are totally out of control to the statement of the year "Hip Hop Is Dead." This statement was made by Nas when he released the eponymous single, for his 2007 album "Hip Hop Is Dead".

Did he really believe the statement or was he using it as a clever way to create a buzz and draw attention to his album release? His response to the controversy bothers me even more, saying he was referring not just hip hop, both the music scene in general all, as far as creativity was concerned. Although I agree with him 100% on the lack of creativity, I could not believe he has seen the hip-hop as an active member in the music once the general public who, after being exposed a virus called mercantilism, was a victim and he died.

Fortunately, hip hop was mainstream media to represent and defend against aggression ... he ... wait ... What I mean ... Once the magazine began trixin source "with rap, the love story was finished and the hip hop beat me on the curb. And hip-hop has lived at Hot 97, at first, but then they have attracted enough listeners off that claim, they raised the rent so high that it downgraded the hip-hop penthouse apt, in a studio a room in the basement, finally back to the streets.

That's when I decided to broaden my presentation to more then just highlight the differences between the culture of Hip Hop & Rap commercial market, I also had to prove that Hip Hop was still alive. I decided that the best way to do was to present a clearer and more detailed what Hip Hop. I had to go further than simply identifying the five elements, which is the original idea was, but to explain why people love hip-hop, what it means to live the hip.
