Many aspire to be number one on Google. They think their prospects sit at their computers and type the words in their online research as "toys" or "painter" or "vitamins" or "make money" hoping they get the results .

This type of reflection positions of owners of online businesses to market and sell what they think are ordinary and blockbuster products and services. They put in much effort and money to get but have found little success because they are in market segments which are highly competitive, crowded, and have low profit margins.

The highly qualified leads, your cows are not random surfers such "toys" or "painter" or "vitamins" or "make money". Your customers are paying users who are more specific and more targeted than that. They are, after an article or service, often considered a niche, or more targeted offering.

For example, if I need a hand-tied bouquet of flowers delivered before 10 am tomorrow in New York, I do not care who gets the business as they deliver.

So if you are a florist in Manhattan, you'd better optimize your website so that you become number 1 on Google search results page for the flower bouquet, tomorrow, and Manhattan ... These are more specific keywords that your customers are using to find a specific product or service. These are phrases that should be leading prospects to you.

It is a discipline of economic change around the web away from current one-size-fits-all markets in relation to targeted niche markets and with niche products and services. This revolutionary idea is described by Chris Anderson in his book The Long Tail and are critical for Internet Marketers.

Our culture and our economy is increasingly moving away from a focus on a relatively small number of his best-selling to a large number of niches.

The riches are in the niches.

Here's a tip for you to do at the beginning of your efforts to become an Internet marketer.

Determine what words and phrases your customers use to find you and take advantage of this information. You can use Google keywords or keywords deputy Yahoo, to find words and phrases that your customers use in their application. You can then add these words and phrases in the meta description on your site and pages of different text on your site.

Adding descriptions to your site and pages of text is called on page SEO. You perform this activity so that your site and content is optimized for search engines. Words and phrases that are your customers find you are using added titles, descriptions, and text pages. This allows a Google search to find easily use your site and improve the ranking of where your content is displayed on the pages of search results.
