Bershok Beth: Thank you for joining us, I'm Beth Bershok and we talk about smart money. We did tonight, talking about taxpayers' money smart, and there is much talk about because we are 1 week away from the tax deadline. First of course we have Jim Lange, CPA Attorney, bestselling author of the book, secure retirement! and we drug out of the night office. We Kohman Steve, Steve you have been with Jim for what, 15?

Kohman Steve: Yes, about 15 years thanks to slip out of his office!

Bershok Beth: Well, Steve has been very busy. Steve is a CPA, is a specialist in estate planning, he is a certified valuation analyst and hey it's a lot of work right now in taxes and we are seven days of absence. Before coming to the rest tonight, I have a question for you two: Your taxes do?

Beth Bershok: Ok Jim, just a quick survey.

Jim Lange: I was extending my own tax returns for the past 30 years and extend my return again this year.

Beth Bershok: I raise this question because my husband is also a Certified Public Accountant and he told me that I should consider October 15, the deadline for the rest of my life. Now it is too late for the year 2008 to put money in a Roth 401 (k) or even a traditional 401 (k) or 403 (b). But it's not too late to put money into a Roth IRA if you made your statement or not. If you are married and you file a joint return and your adjusted gross income is below $ 169,000, you are eligible.
