Exclusive Interview: Jessica Szohr of Gossip Girl BuddyTV Debbie Chang recently interviewed Gossip Girl's Jessica Szohr, the actress who plays Vanessa Abrams in the CW teen TV series. In their conversation, Szohr shared how she identified with her character and the difference between it and the style of Vanessa.
Jessica Szohr said that all the characters in the show, she could relate to Vanessa more. "I'm from Wisconsin, so living in New York, and in particular on the Upper East Side, is very different from where I grew up. Generally, personally, I could relate to Vanessa, which is great because it's who I play, "she said.
In preparation for his role Szohr read books where the show was based on. Szohr has admitted that even she was surprised that there have been changes.
"I took a couple of books to read on the plane to make a sort of backstory for her, and when I read the script ... writers and executive producers doing something different with the show that the book ... Vanessa was very different. Vanessa shaves her head in the books, wearing combat boots and has a ton of piercings, and my head full of curly hair, curly, "she said
Szohr shared that he was Eric Damon and other costume designers who decided that Vanessa be more of a bohemian, earthy kind of girl. Vanessa Szohr style is different, but she admitted to enjoy dressing the part. "I think it's so fun because Vanessa dresses very different than I do in real life, so it's fun when they give me all these models and shiny shoes and all that ... they are so good at what they do, so I always trust their instincts, "said Szohr. Apart from its shoots, while Szohr puts on jeans, t-shirts and flip flops.
Szohr has confirmed that there are only five episodes left before season 1 ends. "It was supposed to be the new original episodes ... they crammed nine episodes into five. [There are weddings], people who are out with their sexuality, and many things, "she screamed.
