 ERNEST JENNINGS FORD better known as Tennessee Ernie Ford, was born in Bristol, Tennessee in 1919. It was a recording artist and television host. He managed in the country and western, pop and gospel genres. He started as an advertiser on WOPI-AM. In l939 we left at the Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio to major in classical music and voice. He served in WWII as a bombardier on a B-29 Superfortress in missions over Japan. After his service he worked in radio in San Bernardino and Pasadena, California. It was during his time at the San Bernardino station he picked up his nickname "Tennessee Ernie." In the forties, Ford has turned musical. Meanwhile, a talent scout for Capitol Records he brought to their attention, and Ford has finally signed a contract with them. In the 1950s he released 50 singles countries. Some of these included early recordin "Shotgun Boogie, and" Blackberry Boogie ". His interpretation of" Sixteen Tons "was a great success in 1955.
