Ethel Merman? Just watched the movie 1953 "Call Me Madam".
Who was her co-star on the London stage?
I saw the show and remember that there were at least 4-5 bis of the song "I hear singing and there is nobody"
(I was a child at the time, really)
In the movie "Call Me Madam", there were three songs that Merman sang>> "With the Mostest Host", "Best Thing for You" and "Your Just in Love". Merman played the role of Sally Adams and the game has been on Broadway for 644 performances.
I'm pretty sure the line comes from the "Your Just in Love." Her co-star Russell Nype was a newcomer to the Broadway musical.
When the film was made in 1953 I was not even born, I have not made my appearance in the world until 1954 ..
