Exploring Tuscany visiting the main filming location: Florence and Cortona.

Filled with familiar sites and scenic landscapes, Tuscany has been used as a filming location for many famous movies. The charm and attraction of Tuscany is quite outstanding, and several films have not only been filmed, but also focused on the picturesque towns of Tuscany, like Cortona and Florence.

Tanning under the Tuscan Sun

One of these films is Under the Tuscan Sun, a 2003 Audrey Wells direction based on the novel by Frances Mayes the same name. The film has helped reveal the best sites and attractions that dot the historic city of Florence. Some of the locations used in the film including the Piazza della Signoria and the Piazza della Republica.

The Piazza della Signoria is a square in the form of an L, and is located in Florence, in Tuscany. The Plaza is an important historical basis, he served former political center of the city. The square is flanked by several other attractions such as the Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Uguccioni, and many others.

Piazza della Republica is another of the many squares scattered throughout Tuscany. The semi-circular center is decorated with the Fountain of naiads, which was commissioned in 1870 and completed in 1888.

The film combines romance and comedy at a time, and offers a beautiful view on love and family values. However, it is perhaps the breathtaking locations used in the film that has contributed to its unabashed success.

The film, which was made more beautiful thanks to the beauty of Tuscany, later won the award for best actor for Benigni, the award for best picture, best foreign film, best original screenplay, and several others.

Tea in Tuscany

Tuscany, however, is just full of things to see and places to visit. Some other places in Tuscany are popular Piazza Santa Maria Novella and Piazza del Duomo, which both appeared in the1999 film, Tea with Mussolini.

Piazza Santa Maria Novella is a world famous attraction in Florence. Square or Plaza has been featured in Tea with Mussolini, and is famous for being one of the greatest historical sites found in the city. The square is a vast expanse of a grassy area dotted with a central fountain in the middle. It is also the location of the church Santa Maria Novella, a large church in Florence.

The Piazza del Duomo has the classic characteristics of a square, a vast expanse of grass dotte.
