For those who never experienced this truism, film Mike Leigh is a must. A necessity. For those who know loneliness every day, this film could be a comfort, an assurance. You are not alone in feeling miserable. There are many great movies about loneliness - The Collector, Fight Club, One Hour Photo, Taxi Driver, to name a few, but Naked is unique. It is one of those movies that hit you hard when you watch a dark, dark and uncompromising tale of alienation and what it means to be alone to live your life like a shadow. Naked is the story of Johnny (David Thewlis, who acted the part of his life here, I think), an incredibly intelligent and serious caustic, with an inclination toward philosophical discourse on all subjects, who fled to London to Manchaster to avoid a beating from the family of a young girl he raped. He meets an old girlfriend, and spends some time homeless, making contact with some interesting characters, including a night watchman, two young Scots, a young waitress, all alienated and lonely. All are rejected by society, trying to cope with their everyday numbness and alienation.

The movie reminded me of Taxi Driver Martin Scorsese, dealing with similar issues, the "philosophy of despair," the alienation of human beings in a society indifferent.
This film is a lesson. Watch it as often as you can and think for a moment all these issues. Experience of at least two hours what it means to be alone. For some people it is a life experience ... 10/10
