Carl Smith, legendary country singer and original hitmaker honky tonk, died Jan. 16 at his home Fanklin, TN. He was 82. Smith, affectionately known as "Mr. Country" was also the former husband of June Carter Cash and a respected veteran who were over 30 No. 1 hits throughout his career that began in the 1950s.
