I love "Lynn in Florida" the idea of using the family names in baby names - I like the sense and the link that gives the child

I'm named after my paternal grandmother (and other women of my father's side have the same name for generations back). I've never been able to answer, as she died before I even thought of - however, I have a link to the woman I've ever had the opportunity for me.

Our oldest son has his father's name as his middle name (like her father named her father as his middle name) - and my SIL uses his first name middle name of his daughter (who happens to be the middle name his mother too) - If we had a girl, she can even have had my name as his surname, or one of the grandmothers of his name as a middle name.

My point - it is a way of passing on a link and provide a very significant name for your child (ren).
