Railroad Museum captivates Kids old and young Located in the heart of central North Carolina along the border of Wake and Chatham counties, just thirty minutes south of Raleigh, North Carolina is the Railroad Museum / New Hope Valley Railway. Since I am a boy I was fascinated by trains - steam engines, diesels, the bullet trains, and even the subway. My family feels the same way, we marvel at the sight of a steam locomotive whistles and wheezes its way clackety-clack down the tracks, imagining that we, we travel across this great nation ours.
This particular museum stock excite fans train for the variety of equipment on site, and, for rides that are available to the general public. Indeed, when we recently visited the museum grounds have been packed for several days hiking takes place only on the first Sunday of the month [May-November with Halloween and Christmas goes well]. The museum railway is composed of a group of dedicated volunteers [Saturday are days of skilled labor and volunteers are welcome]. Train Tour prices are reasonable and passengers know that rates are helping to restore a bit of history of being in North Carolina while reliving the same time.
A "G" rail yard across the model on the site with a barbecue restaurant and picnic area adjacent. There are plenty of parking spaces on site as well.
