Buddy Holly

Buddy HollyThe tragic story of Buddy Holly

Born in September 1936, Charles Hardin Holley, who was later known as Buddy Holly was one of the pioneers of rock and roll. It was primarily a guitarist, composer and singer, but his career would last about five years due to a plane crash he was involved in when he was only 22 years. He was recently married and had a great start to a potentially important musical career when he died. Referred to the greater influence in the beginning of rock and roll, Buddy Holly would be a great loss to those who recognized the talent he had, but live on through future bands, such as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones which were largely influenced by him.

Buddy Holly was born into a family of musicians, which probably explains his musical talent. He was exposed to music at an early age and learned to play several instruments, including guitar, piano and violin. Later, in college, he met Bob, who also had an interest in music. They started playing together and it was not long before people are recognized as a team. Often referred to as "Buddy Holly", they played bluegrass music, sang together at talent shows and later sang in different clubs. Buddy Holly's interest turned from bluegrass to rock and roll, when he saw and heard Elvis Presley. It was not long after Buddy turned to rock and roll that has signed a contract with Decca Records. One may wonder how the name Buddy Holly changed its spelling spelling changed when he accidentally signed the contract without including the "e" to his name. Therefore, his name was "Holly" instead of the original "Holley".

Buddy Holly formed his group, known as "The Crickets" in 1956 and they immediately began to make recordings. Two years later, after releasing two albums, The Crickets toured the United Kingdom, which has been a great success. It was during this visit he met his future wife. It seems that music was not the only thing that Buddy Holly was hectic at, he proposed to Maria Santiago on their first date and they married soon after. It was about six months after he was married and that tragedy has struck the world would lose one of the most influential people in the Rock and Roll. It may not have released many albums and his career may have been brief, but in time he was alive he was able to accomplish many things. Not only does it bridge the racial divide in Rock and Roll, it became a source of inspiration for many groups that would make future Rock and Roll to the next step. He does not need to have a career of 20 years to make a difference, it did so in less than five years. His five years, particularly last year and a half have been spent very well and we would have wondered how his career would have gone, and to what extent it would have been had he not been on this plan when it went down.
