Is Amelia Earhart Lockheed Vega still exposed to the Smithsonian in Washington DC? Is Amelia Earhart Lockheed Vega still exposed to the Smithsonian in Washington DC? I saw him once I'm gone, but someone told me that she is not exposed more. That answer this question if you have been recently! I went there in 2007.
I especially saw the plane a month ago. But it is a part of the Smithsonian Institution, where the planes go through a process of restoration. So the answer is .... yes, you can still see ... but barely ... as it is behind some other aircraft that are being restored and there is scaffolding and plastic sheeting around them.
The "Barron Hilton Pioneers of Aviation" at the gallery NASM SI (which includes the Lockheed Vega 5B) is temporarily closed until May 2010.
